Joe Baldassarre

Joe Baldassarre is executive vice president and chief audit executive for City National Bank. He sits on the bank’s Executive Leadership Team and Senior Management Team.

Joe has 15 years of experience in Internal Audit, driving assurance programs at both City National and for various financial services clients during his tenure at KPMG. He joined City National in 2018 and rose to progressively senior roles to sustain and enhance the bank’s audit function. As chief audit executive, he is responsible for delivering independent, objective audit assurance over the design and operation of risk management practices, governance processes and the system of internal controls. In addition to his Internal Audit responsibilities, Joe is responsible for City National’s Credit Risk Review function.

Prior to City National, Joe rose through the ranks at KPMG with a strong history of developing comprehensive audit programs, delivering robust board reporting, leveraging advanced data analytics and leading large, cross-functional audit teams both domestically and internationally. Joe began his career in IT Advisory before shifting focus to Finance, Operations, Regulatory Compliance and Corporate functions.

Joe is a certified public accountant and a certified fraud examiner. He graduated with honors from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business, earning Bachelor and Master of Accountancy degrees and a certificate in international business studies.
